On 24 May, 2012 the first Energy Day within the Central Europe project GovernEE took place in the District Burgenlandkreis, Germany.
The efficient use of energy against the background of constantly increasing energy costs is of crucial importance for the District with its 38 administrative and school buildings, gyms and residential homes. With the European 2020 strategy and the energy roadmap 2050 the European Union attaches great importance to energy efficiency, especially in buildings.
This applies to the Public Sector in particular. The GovernEE project provides for the District a possibility, contributing to the improvement of the energy efficiency of the buildings, in close cooperation with the associated towns Naumburg, Weißenfels and Zeitz.
An important aspect is the improvement of the user’s habit, supported by training activities for facility managers and medium and high level staff in the administrations.
The local showroom serves as documentation and informational platform, which was officially inaugurated by Mr. Harri Reiche, District Administrator of the Burgenlandkreis.
More than 60 persons from public administration, municipalities, public utility companies, institutions, interested citizens as well as representatives of the local press and the MDR TV Station participated in the inauguration ceremony. The project manager, Mr. Jörg Perrmann, supported by Mr. Rene Beyer as external project expert, explained to the audience the project and its goals. After the official opening ceremony the visitors took the opportunity to get familiar with the showroom and the project content. Following the visitors got the chance to hear more about the first results regarding energy efficiency and saving potentials in the District Administration Burgenlandkreis, given by Mr. Rene Beyer. An interesting discussion came along, especially amongst representatives of the administration.
Finally, the visitors got the chance for individual consultations regarding energy efficiency, energy systems or funding programs, very competent offered by Mr. Rene Beyer, external expert, and Dr. Ernst Krömer, managing director of the Energy Agency Saxony – Anhalt.
The kick-off was well done and accepted and, this is the wish of all people involved, until the end of the project some events, beside the second Energy Day in autumn 2012, will animate the local showroom. The Central Germanys TV Station MDR prepared a short film about the opening ceremony, which was broadcasted in the TV program „Sachsen-Anhalt Heute“ at the same day.
